An investigation is presented of the sensitivity of chemical modeling of low and medium density interstellar clouds to variations in many astrophysical and chemical parameters. It is found that results are particularly sensitive to cloud density, temperature, size and shape, and to the value adopted for the elemental depletions. Variation with position inside a spherical cloud is significant, in that no one position is representative of the entire cloud. The effects of a number of chemical and other reactions thought to be important but of unknown rate constants are also discussed, and the possible contribution of surface grain reactions is considered. It is concluded that the number of uncertain factors in such calculations precludes, at present, the unique modeling of any particular astronomical source.
