This investigation indicates that particle production in nucleon-nucleon collisions goes via intermediate objects created first in a two-body final state two-to-two type endoergic reaction. The intermediate objects decay into commonly known particles and resonances after a short lifetime, but this time is long enough that intermediate objects can traverse the most massive atomic nuclei. It leads to a new picture of the hadron-nucleus collision process as well. This indication should be taken into account when cascade shower development is considered.
