An analysis of 557 visual observations made by 12 GEOS observers, together with a series of 70 photoelectric UBV measurements made by Bartolini et al. at the Osservatoria Astronomico Universitario di Bologna has shown that WY Gem varies in brightness with a period of 169 days. The derived ephemeris is: MAX = JD 2,441,593 + 168.5 E. The characteristics of the light-curve (amplitude and period) are consistent with an SRb type. Analysis of the colour indices confirms previous evidence for the existence of a companion star of spectral type B 0-5 and less bright than the red giant. The difference of magnitude ΔMV is between 2.7 and 3.3 Mag. From the UBV measurements, it is also established that the red giant alone (sp. M2epIab) varies in brightness.
