UBV observations show the star BD + 16°2356 to be an RR Lyr variable of Bayley type C with a period of 0.449 d and a mean visual magnitude of = 10.5. The star is one of the brightest RRc variables in the sky and definitely the brightest representative of the RRc variables with periods longer than 0.4 d. ΔS = 6 indicates a metal abundances of [Fe/H] = -1.2 relative to the Sun.
