The revival of astronomy at the historic Irish observatories of Armagh
and Dunsink in the 1940s is recalled, with particular reference to the
energetic initiatives of Eric Lindsay, both scientific and cultural,
including the Armagh-Dunsink-Harvard Telescope in South Africa, the
first such international collaboration in the history of astronomy.
