Solutions are obtained to the Einstein equations whose right part allows for vacuum effects of quantized fields as well as for background matter. It is shown that the de Sitter model is stable with respect to perturbations due to vacuum corrections. For all other homogeneous isotropic models, allowance for vacuum polarization hastens the approach of singularity. Thus it is concluded that nonsingular solutions of the Einstein equations can be obtained only from initially empty cosmological models conditioned only by the vacuum effects of quantized fields.
