We have synthesized Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter (MOLA) elevation data, geologic mapping observations, and estimates for load-induced lithospheric sagging to derive isopach maps of the south polar layer deposits (SPLD) of Mars. Isopach maps of SPLD composed of CO2 clathrate were used to calculate the present extent and thickness of potential basal melting and to consider the implications of a young, pre-eroded SPLD. Additional information can be found in the original extended abstract.
