The dust boundary observed at Halley is a phenomenon which originated due to disintegration of aggregates of cometary dust. Based on the boundary properties, a model has been developed (Oberc 1996), assuming that the disintegration was caused by sublimation of a volatile compound gluing particles in dust aggregates. The model allows to derive from observations the sublimation parameters, in particular the latent heat; a more straightforward way of deriving them is presented here. Furthermore, it is shown that the obtained sublimation parameters are in good agreement with formula derived by Krueger et al. (1991) for vapour pressures of complex cometary organics, such as polymers, that evaporated from dust and were observed in the gas phase.
