Optical differential photometry of OJ 287 shows rapid variability of this object, amounting to 0.05 mag in an hour in the B band. There are no signs of periodicity from the corresponding power spectrum. The continua calculated from UBVRI photometry are all very well fitted by power laws, indicating a very small dust content. A correlation is found between flux and spectral index; the spectrum steepens as the luminosity decreases.
