This paper discusses the nature of the nucleus of M31 and more particularly the possible evidence for a strong triaxiality-generated anisotropy on the basis of the insights that the projected geometry and rotation velocity can bring. First, it considers the nucleus of M31 as an elliptical stellar system for which the tensor virial theorem can be used. It then discusses on the basis of the projected geometry of the nucleus (and with the assumption of one axis perpendicular to the disk), the barlike structure of its three-dimensional shape, also suggesting a high degree of anisotropy.
