The validity of Mach's principle is discussed using its nonrelativistic interpretation according to Schiama (1961). The basic results determining a hybrid universe model proposed by Selak (1979), 1980, 1984) are considered. The model possesses at the same time properties of the evolutionary and the stationary universe. Some reasons which permit or support ideas in favor of the Mach principle are presented.
