In the present paper, the author discusses generally the accretion flow in a stellar magnetosphere. The accretion flow confines in a magnetic channel, and the accreting gas is heated rapidly in the polar region of the neutron star within several stellar radii from the neutron star; the high temperature gas emits X rays. These results agree with the major features of the accretion flow by a magnetic neutron star.
