The velocity field of the large barred spiral NGC 1365 has been mapped in considerable detail from optical emission lines and, in the case of the bar, also from stellar absorption lines. A part of the material has been obtained using a digital detector (IPCS) allowing estimates of velocity dispersions and line intensities to be made. In this paper the authors present the data and discuss the data reduction techniques employed.
