In considering the logical need for the validation of a system, this article presents operability tests in the qualification of Earth observation satellites of the SPOT or HELIOS families. The class of operability tests is designed to: Validate command and control of the satellite from the Satellite Control Center for all nominal operations (routine, technological operations) or of reactions following ground or satellite anomalies, in all satellite life cycle phases; Validate the implementation of payload mission from program establishment to programming message execution by the satellite itself or by a simulator; Validate the implementation of operations on passengers; Validate ground processing of satellite monitoring.
