The gravitational amplification of light from distant sources by matter from a transparent lens lying at a relativistic distance is derived through an exact solution of the Optical Scalar Equations (OSE). A new expression for the general solution of the null shear OSE in a Friedmann universe is given, and the OSE is solved in the hybrid model for relativistic lens redshift and thin lenses. Exact vacuole model equations for relativistic lens redshifts are solved, and the results are compared with previous calculations. The consequences of the results for research on very distant objects are discussed.
