These notes present a detailed introduction to Maldacena's calculation of the cubic terms in the inflationary action. These interactions are important since they produce the most readily observable evidence for a non-Gaussian component in the pattern of primordial fluctuations produced by inflation. In the simplest class of inflationary theories, those with only a single scalar field participating in the inflationary era, these non-Gaussianities are predicted to be extremely small, as will be reviewed here.
