The properties of ONeMg novae are summarized and compared with the features seen in the optical spectra of old classical novae. None of the old novae had ejection velocities as high as those of the ONeMg novae. Photoionization models of nova shells are used to trace how the ejecta from ONeMg novae should evolve, and to predict what old ONeMg nova shells should look like. Finally, the model developed for CP Pup (Smits, 1990) is used with enhanced neon abundances to see the effect it has on the evolution of the shell. A neon enhancement of between 10 and 100 times the solar abundance would most probably not have been noticed in the spectra of this object.
