Oscillations: Artificial Satellites, Radiation Pressure: Artificial Satellites
Scientific paper
The authors examine planar motion about its mass center of a symmetric, umbrella-shaped planetary satellite in a circular orbit. The spacecraft is acted on by gravity and solar pressure. The authors use the asymptotic method to study small oscillations of the spacecraft in the vicinity of the main resonance. They obtain an approximate amplitude-frequency characteristic of the forced oscillations. Zones of parametric instability of the periodic spacecraft oscillations have been computed numerically. The results are presented in the form of a diagram clearly showing regions of existence and stability of the periodic solutions in the plane of the governing parameters.
