The kinematics of the circumstellar material around Lambda Eri during a five-month emission outburst in 1987-1988 are investigated using CCD observations. A simple kinematical picture is described, and a mean distance for the H-alpha emitting material, best described as a detached ring around the star, is estimated. The relation of this material to the He I 6678 A transients is explored.
