Results are reported from an attempt to fit the planetary-nebula models of Phillips and Reay (1977) to the nebulosity observed around SN 1987A by Wampler and Richichi (1989) and Anderson (1990). The observational data are discussed and illustrated with sample images, and the theoretical basis of the model applied is reviewed. A good fit is obtained by assuming that the SN 1987A nebula was produced by two separate shell ejections from the progenitor star in its red supergiant phase.
