An investigation of the globular cluster (GC) system surrounding NGC 1399, the central galaxy of the Fornax cluster, is described. CCD frames taken in B and V were employed to search for GC candidates in a radial range from 10 to 390 arcsec. The results confirm that NGC is very rich in GCs. Compared to other galaxies, NGC 1399 has one the reddest GC systems. The GC system is shown to be fairly homogeneous, and the majority of the clusters are older than 1 Gyr.
