There is legitimate concern that the distribution of visible objects might be a poor reflection of the distribution of matter in the Universe. Evidence will be presented for factor 10 variations in the ratio of blue light to mass as a function of environment on group scales. Mass concentrations on scales of 1012 - 1013 have moderate values of M/L while values are substantially larger in mass concentrations that are either larger or smaller.
