We present initial results from our analysis and modeling of HST-STIS medium resolution spectra obtained for a complete sample of 21 nearby elliptical galaxies with radio jets. We obtained observations at three parallel slit positions on each nucleus allowing us to map Hα , [NII] and [SII] fluxes, the gas radial velocity, and the velocity dispersion. These data will give us an insight into fueling, ionization mechanisms, black hole masses and structure of the central regions. Support for this work was provided by NASA through grant number HST-GO-08236.01-A from the Space Telescope Science Institute.
