We present analysis methods and techniques developed during the course of the Deep Lens Survey (DLS) transient search. This includes testing of automated data reduction pipelines, application of software developed for weak lensing shape measurements, elaboration on standard difference imaging techniques, building visualization tools for on-the-fly classification and generation of information on astronomical transients, and immediate and automatic dissemination of this information to the astronomical community. We hope to remove the final manual step in this pipeline, classification of these transients, using tools such as genetic algorithms utilizing a 'gene pool' of image processing operators to yield optimal discriminators. Such techniques will be absolutely necessary for operation of a LSST-scale transient search.
