Recent improvements in techniques have made HST images a powerful astrometric resource. We discuss various astronomical applications, assess the accuracy that is possible with WFPC2 and ACS, and briefly describe the techniques that lead to this accuracy. Among the applications discussed are relative motions of stars within globular clusters, absolute proper motions, parallaxes, and observations of solar-system objects. The richness of the HST archive offers a multitude of opportunities for measurement of proper motions.
