We present the results of our study of the 3 micron water-ice feature observed in circumstellar disks and envelopes in obscured young stars. We compare the 2-4 micron absorption spectra of several young stars with those of field sources obscured by the Ophiuchus molecular cloud from which the young stars formed. Comparison of the ice-band profile shapes with the presence of accretion signatures such as hydrogen Br gamma (2.16 microns) and molecular hydrogen (2.12 microns) emission provides the opportunity to compare the temperature and structure of material in the circumstellar and interstellar environments.
