An analysis is made of the linear interaction of oblique Alfven and fast magnetoacoustic waves with magnetospheric plasma particles. Cerenkov wave damping decrements in connection with the cold and hot plasma components are calculated, and instability at ion-cyclotron resonances is analyzed. Instability regions are determined for both types of waves as a function of the parameters of the hot ring-current plasma, frequency, and propagation angle.
