Interferometric observations of the (J,K) = (9,8) inversion line of para-NH3 from W51 show that the source size is smaller than 1.5 arcsec. The peak brightness temperature corrected for source size is above 1600 K. Since this temperature exceeds the Doppler width of the (9,8) line, the emission is caused by maser action. The (9,8) maser is located SW of W51 - IRS2 (W51 d) at the edge of the continuum source. No time variability has been observed during 1985 - 1989.
