The significance of the pressure shift of Balmer lines is compared with that of the Einstein gravitational redshift in white dwarfs with extremely high surface accelerations. It is shown that the relative importance of the pressure redshift is 50-70 percent of the gravitational redshift at log g = 7 and decreases to about 1 percent at log g = 11.
