It is shown that the initial mass function is at a minimum in the 1.5-2.5 solar mass interval due to the proximity of the solar orbit to the corotation circle of the Galaxy; in this region, the rotation of Galactic disk and the spiral pattern is synchronous. The depth of the minimum indicates that the spiral wave matter density is at least six times higher than the interarm density.
