The most recent values of the main parameters of Venus of geological and geophysical interest are listed, and some of the main findings of high-resolution radar images of the planet's surface and gamma-ray spectra from Venera probes are summarized. These data are then discussed in terms of their relevance to three major areas of the geology of Venus: bulk composition, degree of differentiation and physical state of the interior; chemical and physical nature of the surface; and exogenic and endogenic processes creating and modifying landforms. The atmosphere of Venus is discussed in terms of the clouds and lower atmosphere, atmosphere dynamics and thermal structure, and aeronomy and thermal structure of the neutral upper atmosphere. Recent models of the ionosphere and solar wind cavity are discussed.
