The purpose of the work is to investigate various mathematical methods of period analysis with regard to their possible application to processing observational material on pulsating X-ray sources. The methods considered were chi-square methods, periodogram analysis, Fourier analysis, and autocorrelation methods. Computer programs for these methods were drawn up. Comparisons were made on the basis of Monte Carlo simulations and real data on Her X-1, the Crab Nebula, and Cyg X-1.
