A polarization tensor for sources of thermal emission is obtained for homogeneous media with an arbitrary degree of anisotropy and weak absorption. The components of this tensor are expressed only in terms of regular-wave parameters. Since sources of regular-wave thermal emission are incoherent, only those components of the source polarization tensor which are linear combinations of the medium's emissivity with respect to ordinary and extraordinary waves are retained in the equation of polarization transfer. Source polarization in the special cases of quasi-longitudinal and quasi-transverse wave propagation is analyzed in some detail.
