Spectra taken at the 182-cm telescope of Cima Ekar show the presence of permitted Fe II and Fe III multiplets in the nuclear region of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 7469, thus confirming the existence there of clouds of widely different densities, from 10 to the 6th to 10 to the 9th particles/cu cm. It is pointed out also that no single 'star-like' nucleus is visible; the elongated central region seems to consist of at least three condensations in a diameter of few seconds of arc, i.e. within 1 kpc.
