The spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a two-solar-mass iron-oxygen stellar core is calculated. The initial configuration is a polytrope with an index n = 3, and rotation is taken into account in a one-dimensional approximation where the centrifugal force is averaged over a solid angle. The results show that no significant shell ejection occurs and that rotation may produce a substantial decrease in the neutrino luminosity of the collapsing star.
