Results are reported for investigations of internal motions in the dust-gas complex W1 (NGC 7822) based on observations carried out in the H-alpha line and the forbidden N II line at 6584 A. The radial-velocity field in a large part of the complex is examined, and a faint extended shell is found to be expanding about the bright nebula W1 with a velocity of approximately 50 km/s. A model is proposed in which the faint shell about W1 is a supernova remnant and the nonthermal radio source G 118.1+5.0 is a dense H II region with which the expanding supernova shell is colliding. The age of the supernova is estimated to be no more than about 350,000 years, and it is suggested that the interaction of a strong stellar wind from the stars in the Cep IV OB association with the interstellar gas could give rise to a faint shell-type nebula.
