Distortions of the microwave relict-radiation spectrum caused by the release of recombination quanta during cooling and deionization of matter at early stages in the evolution of the universe are studied. An exact numerical calculation is performed to determine the intensities and line shapes of hydrogen recombination lines of cosmological origin. The kinetics of hydrogen recombination resulting from the temperature decrease accompanying the expansion of the universe is analyzed, a general problem of irreversible recombination is examined, and the effect of the hydrogen density and the density of all forms of matter in the universe on recombination dynamics is investigated. Numerical results are presented which show that the most intense and narrowest hydrogen recombination line corresponds to the Balmer jump. Helium recombination lines are briefly discussed.
