An approximate solution, based on the asymptotic properties of the Hermitian polynomial, is sought for the problem of diffuse line-radiation with redistribution with respect to frequency and direction, the problem being extended to encompass the dependence of redistribution on scattering angle. The redistribution law obtained takes account of thermal effects and of the collisional and radiational broadening of the upper atomic level, a total frequency redistribution being assumed.
