Monte Carlo calculations are used to predict the distribution of total angular momenta for galaxies of a given mass from the tidal interaction characteristics. The predictions are compared with the observed distribution of ellipticities of elliptical galaxies as a function of absolute magnitude. The angular momentum of spiral galaxies is also considered. Attention is given to massive halos and the distribution of the relative sizes of spiral and elliptical galaxies.
