Equations of a thin magnetic flux tube in a Langrangian form are presented which describe the distribution of MHD parameters along the tube as well as its motion as a whole in a medium with a specified pressure. It is noted that the thin flux tube behaves like a nonlinear string. It is shown that, in a thin tube, only Alfven discontinuities at which a break in the tube occurs, slow shock waves, and contact discontinuities are possible.
