An evaluation is made of milestones in the development history of the standard model of particle physics, which evolved from the relationship established by the two-neutrino experiment between muon and muon neutrino, and between electron and electron neutrino. The milestone experiments were those at the Columbia Synchrocyclotron, the Brookhaven Cosmotron, the Alternating-Gradient Synchrotron, the CERN intersecting storage rings, the Fermilab 400 GV proton synchrotron, and the Cornell electron storage rings. While in some cases the fermion particles were discovered, others opened such fields of research as muon spin resonance, neutral kaons, charge-parity violation, dimuons, and the Drell-Yan process.
