Scientific paper

Main-sequence and red giant evolutionary tracks have been computed for Population II and Population I stars with masses in the range 0.7-1 solar mass up to the helium flash. The core mass values have been found about 4 percent larger than those previously evaluated. The origin of this disagreement has been traced back by changing some physical inputs and by testing some algorithms for numerical integration, mainly the shell shift technique.
