It is hypothesized that the X-ray source Cyg X-3 is a long-period accreting pulsar and along with a red supergiant forms a binary system with orbital period of several years. Interpretation of the normal component as a red supergiant with low surface temperature (less than 3000 K) and with a hot spot can account for the observed infrared flux from Cyg X-3.
