In the pulsation theory of variable stars, a solution with uniform nonlinear pulsations of gravitating gas spheres is of particular interest because it accurately predicts the density pulsations, and because this simple physical model is amenable to analytical treatment. In the present paper, the stability of the exact solution with a periodically time-dependent uniform density is analyzed. It is shown that the equation describing the arbitrarily small disturbances of this solution can be reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations with periodic coefficients by expanding the disturbances in a series of a certain system of eigenfunctions.
