Extragalactic H I clouds associated with nearby galaxies seem to have significantly less mass in H I than what is required by the virial theorem. The main mass component of these clouds could be that part of the extragalactic unseen mass (postulated to bind the groups of galaxies containing these clouds) which happens to lie within the volume of space that they occupy. Other possible explanations of this mass discrepancy and their difficulties are discussed.
