Light curves of recent novae and the supernova 1991T are presented primarily to demonstrate the paucity of photoelectric or calibrated CCD measurements, particularly in the critical maximum phase. There is a an opportunity for a very useful contribution to the study of these objects by photometrists with modest telescopes, particularly if they can respond quickly.
