It is likely that the anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background -- discovered by the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite -- is due to near structures (voids, superclusters, etc., at redshift less than 2) and has nothing in common with the distribution of matter at redshift approximately or equal to 1000. This result follows from the analytic calculation of the redshift of light that crosses a spherical void.
