The incorrectness of the main assumption of Kulakov and Stulov (1992) regarding the stability of the midsectional area of a meteoroid during its deceleration and ablation in the atmosphere is shown. Other parameters adopted in that study, such as the mean density of meteoroids, are also incorrect; thus, the preatmospheric masses of fireball-forming bodies are underestimated in Kulakov and Stulov by several orders of magnitude.
