In connection with the discoveries of the new comets 1982 b, 1982 c, 1988 e, and 1988 g, the orbits of which have essentially close elements, the existence of cometary groups with similar orbits and their genetic relationships are considered. The actual existence of genetically related cometary groups is shown. The similarity of the quasi-stationary parameters mu and nu, and of the Tisserand invariants is used as a criterion for the selection of comets in the groups. This criterion is verified on comets of the Kreutz family and on comets that have experienced close encounters with Jupiter. It is shown that this criterion is quite feasible for identifying genetically related cometary groups.
