Describes his own 1855 observations of Saturn using his large reflecting telescope. Notes the colors of globe and ring features, the squared-off appearance of shadow of globe on ring due to its edging on the Cassini division, and expresses doubt regarding variation in plane of rings as previously suspected by others. Notes that ring C was differently colored on E vs W ansae on one night.
